PRIMEEMX.EXE This is a DOS port of the Mersenne prime program by George Woltman for Linux. Although it is possible to run this version on OS/2 I strongly advice you not to do for two reasons: 1. This version runs 1.5% slower using OS/2 than PRIMEOS2 OS/2 users are adviced to use PRIMEOS2.EXE instead of PRIMEEMX.EXE. 2. PRIMEEMX has no PRIMENET facilities. See the readme.txt and whatsnew.txt files as written for the Linux version for more information. Version 3.3.1 contains the functionality of the 18.1.2 version of George's program mprime for Linux. NOTE for those upgrading from a previos version. The menu items have changed numbers because of the new Testing/ECM CHANGES ======= 3/4/99 3.3.1 Ported mprime version 3.3.1 All users of PRIMEEMX 3.2.x should upgrade to this version since it corrects a serious bug in the LL testsing code. 27/3/99 3.2.3 Version updated to keep up with PRIMEOS2 (no changes to PRIMEEMX) 26/12/98 3.2.2 Removed the bug that CTRL-C was only possible once. 24/12/98 3.2.1 Ported the V17 release of MPRIME to OS/2 ECM code included 03/08/98 3.1.4 Bug fixed for Cyrix factoring 28/05/98 3.1.3 Bug fixed in the factoring code 27/05/98 3.1.2 The 64 bit factoring code is now operational too!! A bug which caused the 62 bit factoring to fail removed. 24/05/98 3.1.0 Ported the V16 release of MPRIME to OS/2 The 64 bit factoring code however is not yet included. But new LL test routines are include. 13/05/98 3.0.4 Version updated to keep up with PRIMEOS2 (no changes to PRIMEEMX) 10/05/98 3.0.3 Version updated to keep up with PRIMEOS2 (no changes to PRIMEEMX) 30/04/98 3.0.2 Version updated to keep up with PRIMEOS2 (no changes to PRIMEEMX) 26/04/98 3.0.1 Updated the factoring code to support AMD K6 19/04/98 3.0 First port of mprime 15.4.2 for OS/2 except for PRIMENET SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS =================== You need the EMX runtime system that can be obtained from: ftp://hobbes.nmsu.edu/os2/dev/emx/v0.9c/ it has the name emxrt.zip. (The version (v0.9c) might change in the future). If you want to run PRIMEEMX in a Windows 3 environment (actually W95 and NT too, but I can't imagine why you should not use PRIME95 then) get the RSX package instead of EMXRT at: ftp://ftp.uni-bielefeld.de/pub/systems/msdos/misc EMX and RSX need at least 1 Megabyte of memory. Because of the great amount of memory needed I would not advice to use the program on a system with less than 4 Megabytes (for small exponents up to 16 for the real big exponents) available. Please read for more detailed information the documentation provided with emxrt.zip.
